Our minds are always so busy thinking about a lot of things at the same time and having concerns about things that are unlikely to happen. Has this ever happened to you? Worrying so much about something, not sleeping or not eating properly, with a fear of what might happen? And when the real situation is gone, NOTHING happened the way our mind created it? We realized that the sleepless nights and the tension of the days were totally useless and only made us lose time and life.
It happens sometimes to me and probably to you too. Our minds don't do this because it wants to be bad, it is a form of primitive alertness that we have, still reminiscent of the cave era when a man had to be 100% alert: run or die. Fear saved us at that time.
Fortunately, we no longer have threats as close as we did in the cave days, our challenges are different now. And, unlike that time, today we need our mind as aligned as possible with our purposes, otherwise, it will be our greatest enemy.
Do you know what I learned and do to change my mind from a freaking and controlling mind to a friendly one? I enjoy the process.
It's an exercise, but it's very liberating: "Don't worry about what you can't change."
It's simple, but it's not easy. It demands attention, and commitment.
And what can we with what we can change?
I first raise my energy. I read, dance, jump, admire nature, meditate, think of good things. I become as present as possible in the situation. And then I think of solutions. And then I see how I can change things.
Life is too good to be living so far in the future. There are always good events taking place in the now and for the future to come, there is so much that needs to be done today. Enjoy the process!
